ZAMERANIE

Nanotechnológie zamerané na biomedicínske využitie zaznamenali v posledných rokoch progres vedúci k zvýšenému záujmu o nanomateriály využiteľné v klinickej praxi. Nano-biotechnológie dávajú prísľub presnejšej diagnostiky a precíznejšieho zobrazovania, čo sa spája s efektívnejšou a lepšie cielenou terapiou pre mnohé ochorenia. Anorganické nanomateriály (INMs) sa čoraz viac dostávajú do centra pozornosti ako potenciálne diagnostické a terapeutické nástroje modernej medicíny práve vďaka ich dokázanej schopnosti zlepšiť zobrazovanie (MRI, PET, NIR, tomografia, fotoakustická tomografia, atď.). Dizajn INMs je navrhnutý tak, aby zachovával tieto ich unikátne fyzikálno-chemické vlastnosti (optické, magnetické, atď.), ktoré sa nedajú dosiahnuť pri klasických nanomateriáloch, ako sú lipozómy, dendriméry, či polyméry. Tým sa z INMs stávajú sľubné nástroje využiteľné v neinvazívnej diagnostike a prospektívnej teranostike.

Cieľom nášho výskumu je charakterizácia INMs v biologických podmienkach a nano:bio interakcie s bunkami, tkanivami a orgánmi. Nedostatok informácií o osude nanočastíc po splnení ich terapeutickej či diagnostickej aplikácie nás motivuje k skúmaniu vplyvu nanomateriálov na živý organizmus a ich možné nepriaznivé krátkodobé aj dlhodobé účinky.

Hlavným cieľovým orgánom pre výskum toxických účinkov INMs sú obličky, ktoré sa do značnej miery podieľajú na odstraňovaní nanočastíc z organizmu. Pri súčasnej expanzii nanočastíc do biomedicíny sú čoraz viac potrebné štúdie zaoberajúce sa nefrotoxicitou nanomateriálov, ktoré naznačia, ako predísť možným zdravotným rizikám.

Vďaka známej antioxidačnej aktivite rastlinných extraktov je náš výskum zameraný aj na protektívne účinky týchto extraktov využiteľné napríklad v doplnkovej podpornej liečbe ku terapii onkologických ochorení. Navyše INMs v kombinácii s rastlinnými extraktami, napríklad kyselinami, môžu predstavovať atraktívnu liečebnú stratégiu, ktorej sa v našom výskume tiež venujeme.

Študovala na Univerzite Konštantína Filozofa v Nitre a po získaní titulu PhD. (Wilhelmova univerzita Münster, Nemecko) pracovala na Inštitúte všeobecnej farmakológie a toxikológie a na Inštitúte kardiovaskulárnej fyziológie Goetheho Univerzity vo Frankfurte nad Mohanom, Nemecko. Od konca roka 2013 pôsobí na Ústave experimentálnej onkológie BMC SAV v Bratislave.
